Pro-Tip
From the Yellow tees the 6th hole plays as a Par 5, whilst from the shorter White Tees, the hole plays as a much more challenging long Par 4. Some of the most severe rough on the course lies in wait all the way down the right hand side of this hole, so a good tee shot needs to be aimed down the left of centre. The second shot should also favour the left centre of the fairway/green as it can be easy to forget about the severity of rough and lose a ball away to the right. A short pitch or chip is then generally left for the third shot onto a green that gradually slopes upwards from front to back. Constructed on more clay-based ground, shots don’t tend to bound up so much on this hole as on others, so it often pays to pitch the ball up onto the green first and then get it releasing to the hole. On a Health and Safety note, care must be taken when playing this hole, as a public right of way crosses in front of the green.
